While I was on my way …
To home I was heading,
To see my mother’s smile I was expecting.
But through the closed bus window,
I could see vehicles in a row.
And just across the road,
I spotted a man carrying a small load.
He was waving at the traffic,
Motioning the cars to move on.
He probably imagined himself to be a policeman,
But it was something else my observation was on.
This man was looking the wrong way,
He seemed to have no sense of direction.
But he held a sublime smile,
A smile that caught my fascination.
Ignorance is bliss, they say,
This man seemed blissfully unaware of even the time of the day!
…..sigh……..
… I no longer wanted to think anymore,
I closed my eyes, but still hurtful memories came afore.
And I just wondered if, like him,
Of all of them, I could be blissfully unaware…
…..
Soon, I reached home,
I saw my mother and smiled.
She was clearly happy to have me home,
For she smiled back, beguiled……

Hi Ritu :)
Amazing poem with a photo to substantiate the theme.
The sun is setting, the sky is colorful, the birds are going home, the formation of birds looks like a smile.
The man you are talking about could be insane or out of his mind. Insane people live in a world of their own.
Just as the birds are going home you are also going home, just as the bird formation looks like a smile you are remembering your mother’s smile and when you reach home your mother actually smiles, the colorful sky indicates the lovely time you will have at home.
I hope I have done justice in interpreting the poem and the photo.
In any case I enjoyed reading your poem and the gorgeous photo.
Many thanks for sharing.
Have a wonderful day!
